Welcome Back!

Hey All.

Welcome back to another year at DanceArts United. Things are well and truly underway and getting busy for us.  In particular there have been numerous changes made during the holidays, with an increase in reception and office space as well as a change to the dressing room spaces.  Also we will be welcoming a couple of new teachers, firstly Brent Osborne recently finishing up from an Australian and International touring production of cats who will be stepping into the role of Senior Acrobatics coach, and secondly Joel Gallarde of Triple8Funk who has just migrated to Melbourne from New Zealand who will be taking Senior Hip Hop.

Senior students with Cats lecturer Darren Tyler

First up on the calendar was our Holiday Workshop which took place between Monday January 17 through to Friday January 21.  This year’s workshop was particularly exciting with some amazingly talented teachers coming in to share their expertise.  In particular we had the multi-talented Darren Tyler (Skimbleshanks in CATS, Bobby C in Saturday Night Fever, Dance Captain for Miss Saigon and Thoroughly Modern Millie to name a few of his many roles), as well as Brent Osborne (our new acro teacher) and Sarah Clarke, Amber Thomas and Adrian Bell from Ignite The Dark as well as Ian Anderson who in between cruise ship contracts to give the students an industry lecture as well as to teach the students some choreography from the show.  It was a massive week of dance and all students who participated, performed brilliantly.  Well done.

And finally I would like to congratulate the students who received recognition awards at our Break Up party held at Galactic Circus on December 18. Awards are based upon an overall appraisal of the students work over the year.

The last of our awards are our Mentorship’s.  These are awarded in appreciation of the student’s training in either Dance, Vocals or Drama.  Student receives one term of intensely focussed Private Tuition in their set field to further advance them in that area.
