What is Contemporary?
Contemporary is a free and interpretive style of dance that is defined by the ideas that the choreographer or teacher brings to the studio. It incorporates the study of all movement from fluidity to aggression, often the classes or performances have a theme or concept in which the dancing acts as an interpretation and/or study there-of. Contemporary’s use and definition of music is free from any genre restriction and is used as another tool to develop the choreographer/teacher’s concept.
